Runway Hollywood on the first night, again. As part of a foray in to using color film in a club environment I still tried making something out of similar scenes, in this case, two guys dancing. It reminds me of a Ryan McGinley photo. I like how the light in the upper left frame looks like a crown on the guy in the left. I also like the play of the hidden expression of the man in the back to the manic look of the man in the front. Again, for those who care, shot on Kodak Portra 800 pushed to 1600.

If you haven’t heard of Australian soul bother, Sam Sparro, you’re in for a treat! “Happiness” is the first official single off of Sparro’s latest album Return To Paradise. With a fantastic piano intro and slap bass working it throughout the track, Sam stays true to his funk/dance flair that we LOVE! Downtown L.A. nightlife photography at its finest. I was crouched on the dance floor of La Cita during Mustache Mondays waiting for dancers to dip their bodies in the only usable light. This woman twisted in to the light with a face full of bliss, a nice counterpoint to the usual “fierce” dance faces I see other gay men don.
